Mental Health Occupational Therapy
13 years to 80+ years

Initial session to establish your mental health, and well-being goals for therapy.

An initial session is requested with a parent/caregiver prior to the child or adolescent's engagement with the occupational therapist to establish goals for therapy.

Psychological frameworks used in therapy sessions include- cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance behavioural therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), schema therapy, attachment theory, with a low demand approach in a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

Subsequent mental health OT sessions can support you/your child with focused psychological interventions including but not limited to:
Emotional Support & Psycho education - mental health.
Neurodivergent identity- autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), pathological demand avoidance presentation (PDA), dyslexia, developmental language disorder (DLD) and mental health challenges.
Burnout
Family, social, & relationship support.
Anger management
Nervous system regulation- internal & external identification and processing of the world around us.
School/university/workplace strategies & advocacy.
Sensory support.
Executive functioning strategies for motivation, time management, organisation, memory.
Exploring meaningful activities and connections- interests, relaxation, mindfulness.
All sessions are provided with respect for privacy and confidentiality.
Diversum Health Group DOES NOT provide an acute/ crisis mental health service.
Acute mental health presentations may require more specialised interventions to address concerns such as increased substance use, escalation of self-harming coping strategies, suicidal ideation or planning, verbal or physical aggression, or unlawful behaviours including theft, drug distribution, or harm to others.
Acute mental health challenges often necessitate a period of stabilisation with appropriate support services. In such circumstances, therapy services at Diversum may need to be temporarily paused and can be resumed once a period of stabilisation has been achieved.

Length Of Time For a Therapy/Coaching Session:

Direct service in session with the Occupational Therapist is 45 minutes
-
Indirect service- documentation of session is 15minutes

Total length of service= 60 minutes
